Balgonie Teacher Selected for Professional Development Initiative

Balgonie Elementary School Kindergarten Teacher Jolene Ursu has been selected to participate in the Ministry of Education’s Early Learning Site Visit Initiative.

Through the program, educators from across the province will visit Ursu’s classroom to gain insight into how stimulating and dynamic environments impact early learners.

Ursu was selected by the Ministry of Education for several reasons. Her classroom design features various learning areas such as sensory, building and creative that provide opportunities for hands-on and play-based learning. She also emphasizes bringing the environment into the classroom by utilizing wood and other natural materials.

Ursu has taught in several communities in central and southern Saskatchewan. This is her fifth year at Balgonie Elementary School.

As a result of Ursu being selected for the Early Learning Site Visit Initiative, BES will receive a $3,000 provincial grant.
