Visualizing the long-term harms and impacts of substance use

A kiwi bird tries a golden nugget that symbolizes a substance (alcohol, drugs, gambling, shopping, social media, food, etc.). The kiwi bird feels a boost and even begins to fly despite not having wings. Over time the effect fades and each landing from flight becomes more painful and difficult than the last. The bird becomes dependent, losing control and energy. This visually represents substance abuse—initially enjoyable, but progressively harmful—as well as the mental and physical toll of addiction, illustrating how repeated use can lead to feeling trapped and drained emotionally and mentally.
