Your role as a Council member is to build shared responsibility among parents, the community and school for student achievement and well-being and to lead parent and community involvement and engagement in school planning and improvement.
 
A parent or community member serving on the School Community Council is...
  • Interested in working with others (including the Board of Education, School Division and school-level administrators, parents, community members and other council members) to support student learning success and well-being.
  • Willing to be guided by policies and practices that support good School Community Council practice.
  • Able to provide a two-year commitment to the work of the Council, typically through attending monthly meetings and participating in other activities in the school and community
